I will be leaving for the the annual conference for the American Society of Association Executives next Friday, August 10th. The conference runs from August 11th through 14th in Chicago. The Houston chapter (HSAE) is a client of ours (Schipul) and I hope to see some of the folks from HSAE there.
I'm very excited about the opportunities that this conference will provide. I hope to meet folks that I can help by connecting them to other people I know. That's one of the most enjoyable and satisfying aspects of attending these conferences... making new friends. If this leads to creating more business for us (Schipul or Tendenci), it's great... but not the primary goal. If you are going to a conference to get more sales, it will likely be disappointing. It's best to go with an open mind ready to be helpful. Worst case, it creates wonderful karma for you and your company.
I'm also CRAZY excited about being in Chicago - it's been about 12 years since I last visited the windy city... and this time, I will be going to a Cubs game at Wrigley field. This has been a dream of mine for many years! I am a huge Houston Astros fan and I pretty much hate the Cubs :)... but I loooove baseball and going to a game at such a historic stadium has me really pumped! The green monster in Boston is next!
If anyone reading this blog is going to be at the conference, please post a comment below. I'd love to meet you.
